Any parents out there concerned about keeping their kids up with the latest Euro fashions? We hope no one is too concerned - but I stumbled across a cool fashion site where you can check out the upcoming Spring 07 fashions for the fun of it. It’s a cool place to scope out what’s going to be hip and happenin’ in about six months. I use these sites for inspiration.

I will say I’m definitely feeling overwhelmed by the over-embellishment stuck over everything wearable these days. Since kids fashions seem to be a season or two behind parent’s, I’ll bet we’re in for some over-embellishment, beyond-bedazzlement, and too-muchness for too long into the future. I’ll probably over-rebel and over-streamline our designs.

So, here’s the site with fun info and pictures of cute kids in cute DESIGNER clothing (and some not cute, some over-the-top, some just plain weird). Click on “catwalk gallery” in the left-hand navigation pane to see pictures of runway shows by major children’s fashion designers.

Hi, I’ve been reading your blog for the past few days and find it very interesting. I have been wanting to design a childrens clothing line for some time now but have always been a little overwhelmed about exactly where to start. There is soooo much info. to get organized and not knowing what to do first or even if it’s a possibility that it would fly- am I just spinning my wheels or what- Anyway, I found this “catwalk gallery” interesting- thanks for the link- and I agree- some cute and some are just out there. I usually like “out of the box” but let’s get real…..in the “real world” who would buy some of this stuff? I guess it’s a world I’m not familiar with like celebrity world or something….
So it looks like your doing well with baby fabulous- love your designs- I may email you back once I get my thoughts together and get your advice of what to do first….I’m having baby #2 in 2 weeks so again, another reason to push off starting a “new project”. I guess baby #2 is enough “new project” for now…..I’ll be checking back to see how your site is doing- Love it!

It’s weird with wanting to start a clothing line - I remember when I first started saying I was going to do it - over 3 years ago now - and I’d hear myself say it out loud and I would think to myself “you sound so nuts”. But at the same time, I just kept going, and the more I did, the less nuts I felt about it. All along the way there are small things that provide a sense of accomplishment and motivation.

I really believe that you can do whatever you want if you love it enough. I got side-tracked by kid number 2 a bit, side-tracked by moving to a new house a bit, side-tracked by web development issues, etc. But even though my 2nd child is now 2, and over 3 years to really get started seems long, I’m here DOING IT. I’m able to spend all the time with my kids that I dreamed about. I still work long hours, but I could be working long hours in a job I was miserable in, and spending the day away from my kids, or I could be here.

I hope that if you want to do it, you pursue it. I would LOVE to be as much help as I can because I found it difficult to identify resources and the “how to” of getting apparel (sewn products) manufactured. Let me know any way I can point you in the right direction. Email us or drop in here anytime too!

Oh, and I agree about the catwalk & out-of-this-world designs - I guess you can get away with it on the red carpet, not so much in real life.
