We love the farmer’s market! It’s a fun thing to do with the kids, and it’s actually become a priority for our family. We try to do most of our fresh-food shopping there; besides incomparable freshness, buying locally matters a lot and makes a big difference. There are a number of weekly farmer’s markets in San Diego county, so we’re lucky.
Buy Local! Buy Local! Support Organic Farmers!
The herbs pictured to the left are 100% organic, grown by Mission Hills Nursery. The picture doesn’t do them justice - every beautiful plant was the healthiest thing I’ve ever seen. Plus - really cool - they have organic herb-sauce-recipe mixes in a pot. Such as a pesto mix, with basil and all the other wonderful herbs that would make an amazing fresh sauce.
Even if making a purchase from a non-organic vendor, it STILL makes a big difference to buy locally.
As I previously posted, buying local significantly reduces “food miles”. Less food miles means less fuel consumption = less demand for oil.
Supporting organic farmers has the added benefit of reducing the amount of pesticides used in the world - which benefits your baby’s health, Mother Earth’s health, and very importantly, the health of field laborers’.
Any given week, you can select from fresh fruit, vegetables, honey, jam, hummus, pie, bread, chocolates, and so much more!
Baby Fabulous supports organic farming with the 100% organic cotton baby tshirts and bodysuits (onesies) that are available at select boutiques, as well as the b*Fab babyshop. You won’t believe how soft and wonderful organic cotton is against your babies skin! You’ll love the sweet touch of the soft and natural b*Fab graphics too!
If you are lucky enough to have a farmer’s market nearby, I highly recommend a visit with your kids. It’s fun family time and I believe there is NO comparison to the taste of fresh fruit and vegetables. It’s fabulous to get out and enjoy the nice weather too.
