I’m on a personal crusade to reduce how many petroleum-based products we use in our house. Since plastic is petroleum-based, using reusable water bottles will help us reduce how many plastic bottles we use in this house. My husband coaches, so he needs portable water, which has caused us to use way too many plastic bottles in the past. No more - we’re cool now. I purchased the whole family re-usable water bottles this week (I don’t know what took us so long). Mine is a cool green and it couldn’t be more timely - it’s pushing a hundred degrees here in Southern California today.
According to DemocracyNow.com:
Each day an estimated 60 million plastic water bottles are thrown away. Most are not recycled. The Pacific Institute has estimated 20 million barrels of oil are used each year to make the plastic for water bottles.
There are a lot of options available for reusable water bottles - especially that prevent the water from tasting like / seeping in the plastic. Visit SIGG.com for lots of cool reusable water bottles, such as the cute horse ranch-themed bottle to the right.
