Today’s ‘make life easier’ tip is a time-saver and boredom cure – art projects at your kids’ fingertips. Our kids love doing projects. I finally hit on a really great art-supply-tool that keeps us all a little happier; the art box. I put all of the kids’ art supplies into one box that they could reach on their own. I separate art supply by type w/ little boxes inside of a bigger box (all plastic). The big box holds the paper and the smaller boxes.
The art box saves me time because the kids can get their art project stuff together themselves – which gives the kids a sense of independence, a great creative outlet, and something to do!!
Your art box can work for babies too – just make sure it’s kept in the same spot, full of age-appropriate items, and that it is always within reach. The items in the box can be simple for babies, such as a couple of artsy flip books and a magna doodle-type pad. Then, as your baby grows into a toddler and beyond, you can add on crayons, paper, watercolors, paint cups, paint brushes, scissors, and glue-sticks – all kinds of fun stuff.
You could even make a fun family project out of decorating the art box!
