An article posted on MSN.com this morning points to a massive British study that has determined organically grown fruit and vegetables have “far more” nutritional value than conventionally grown fruit and vegetables. “Conventionally grown” fruit and vegetables are grown with chemicals and pesticides.
This is a BIG deal to me as a mom. We’ve been buying our fruits and vegetables at the local farmer’s market lately anyway. Taste alone would tell you there’s a difference between the store bought variety and the fresh organic variety. I can’t get over how good the fresh organic vegetables taste, so it’s great news to hear that it makes a big difference for our kids’ health too.
I highly recommend reading the MSN.com article for some of the specific nutritional details - you’ll be blown away in the difference.
San Diego has an advantage of having a ridiculously high percentage of local organic farmers, so that’s in turn a benefit for us. The farmer’s market is an enjoyable family experience too, our favorite offers llama rides to the kids and has a fabulous selection of fresh honeys, pies, jams, fudge, bread - you name it. I highly recommend an afternoon at the farmer’s market with the kids!
